Collective Soul | Y Music (Atlantic Records) | 09.24.00

At the time I did NOT know a lot about Collective Soul, but I did know Ed Rolland cuz I shot him for Guitar World magazine back in 1996.Β  This was a simple publicity shoot for Y Music which was part of Atlantic Records.Β  We did the shoot at Smash Box Studios in Culver City.Β  If I remember correctly we did 3 set ups in Sky Box.

When ever I shot bands that I did not know much about I always kept it simple.Β  I also loved talking about music with the musicians.Β  We just swapped stories about our favorite concerts and musicians.Β  Made the shoot easier and more casual.Β  I always wanted everyone relaxed.Β  You get the best photos when the subject is relaxed. Β 

I looked at the photos before I wrote this blog post.Β  It makes me laugh when I look at photos and don’t remember much.Β  Some shoots I remember a lot and some very little.Β  Probably the biggest thing I remember is Ed Rolland.Β  He was super cool.
