This was my first shoot with Incubus, but not my first shoot for Epic Records. One of my favorite publicist Melissa Dragitch hired me to shoot the publicity photos for their new album Make Yourself. A lot of times did bands would do one or two publicity shoots cuz the demand for photos was high. The album was a big hit and they were on fire.
We did the shoot at 5th and Sunset in Los Angeles. Super easy and fun. The band was pretty low key and Brandon Boyd was awesome. Such a cool guy who is a great front man. I shot the band and of course some solos of Brandon. They were all so easy to shoot and made for an easy day.
At the time I did not know much about them. That happened a lot in the late 90’s. I didn’t know the new bands or the new music. I was not into the new music so I didn’t pay too much attention. I can’t tell you how many bands I shot and I never heard their music back then. BUT of course and listened after and was impressed with a lot of the bands.
