This was a BIG deal for me. My first Rolling Stone magazine cover shoot! Yes, it was Rolling Stone Australia, but still a BIG deal for me. I was in Sydney at the time visiting and having fun. The magazine asked me if I could fly down to Melbourne and shoot the Ella Hooper and her band Killing Heidi. Of course I sad fuck yes!
I flew down for the day. We shot at Daylight Studios in Melbs. The band showed up and ready to go. Ella Hooper and her brother Jesse Hooper was the leaders. I don’t remember the other two. We did some simple fun setups. A clean white and some colorful fun. It was pretty easy. Ella was amazing and such a natural star! She has that special something that I tried to capture.
The cover ended up being just Ella Hooper which was cool. I loved the end results. It was my first and ONLY Rolling Stone magazine cover to this day. I would love to do another one, but it’s not the same. I’m grateful to Rolling Stone Australia to this day. They still book me for the shoots to this day. Thanks mate!
