Way back on July 13th, 1985, there were these two little concerts called Live Aid—one in London, England, and the other in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The lineups were absolutely insane. The performances? Unforgettable.
I remember watching both concerts on my tiny black & white TV. Even on that little screen, the performances felt massive. The energy, the music, the crowds—it all came through.
Two performances completely blew my mind: Queen and U2. They didn’t just perform—they leapt through the screen. Even in black and white, I could see and feel how powerful they were. Queen, with Freddie Mercury at the helm, absolutely stole the show. It was hands down the best performance of the day. And U2—when they played Bad, something about it just floored me. Raw, emotional, and unforgettable.
To this day, when I watch those sets on YouTube, I still get chills. They never get old, and I never get tired of watching. All these years later, they still give me goosebumps.
Actually… I’m gonna stop writing this and go watch them again.
