Are you in a band?  Do you want to be in a band?  Are you into discovering new music and new bands?  Do you actually go out to shows to see what’s happening now?  Lately, I’ve been meeting and shooting a lot of new bands—and it’s been super fun.  I love photographing bands at every stage of their journey, no matter where they’re at or where they’re headed.  I always end up sharing a little advice—things I’ve learned along the way after years of being around music, artists, and the grind.  So here it is… 10 bits of advice for all the bands out there.

  1. Teamwork makes the dream work!
  2. Playing music is 10% of the job, so enjoy it whenever you get to do it!
  3. Be nice always!!  Manners matter and don’t cost a dime.
  4. Be honest with your music and lyrics!
  5. Keep it simple.  That goes for everything!!!
  6. It’s the entertainment business, please entertain.
  7. A goal without a plan is a wish!
  8. Communication is everything in life, business and music.
  9. Practice makes improvement.
  10. Have fun!!!
