Are things really better today? Does all this technology really make things better? Is digital better than film? Are cameras better today than yesterday? Is being a photographer easier today than yesterday? Is a website better than a portfolio? What do you think? I’m from the old school, but I live in the new school. I was lucky to have the “good-old-days”, but they are the past and I refuse to live in the past.
Do I miss film? Yes & no. Do I miss carrying my heavy portfolios around? NO! I love digital, websites and today’s business. One is not better than the other, its just different. I’m just happy to have experienced both. I love todays photography world, but its not better or worse. It is what it is. Just like the past. The one thing I love about the past and so sure of… it was a lot simpler and all I had to worry about was taking pictures. These days I do the job of 10 people everyday.
I have to be honest, if I miss anything about the past it would be my friends. After working in this biz for 35 years you get to meet and know a lot of amazing people. You cross paths, work together and then part ways. Weather it was my crew, a client or a subject. I met so many wonderful people and had some good times. I haven’t stopped and I plan on creating for another 35 years! I work hard everyday to get better, be better and do better. Its just who I am and who I always will be.
PS. Yes I know the questions were stupid. Ugh! ;-)
