Fred Durst | Ecko Unlimited | 12.13.99

What a day and shoot!  I shot Fred Durst for Ecko at 5th and Sunset Studios.  He showed up alone and good to go.  It was for advertising for some new clothes I think.  It was my first time meeting and shooting Fred Durst.  At first he was moody and skeptical about me and the shoot.  Which was fine cuz he didn’t know me at all and nobody was there from Ecko.

Everything was easy and fun.  Fred was a great subject to shoot, but he was still holding back.  Then out of nowhere I got a call from Guy Osery about an upcoming shoot.  I told Guy I was shooting Fred.  Little did I know that they were friends.  I put Guy on the phone with Fred.  That validated me and gave me street cred for Fred.  After the call Fred was much more fun.

From this shoot I was asked by Fred if I waned to shoot his band Limp Bizkit.  Of course I said yes.  A couple months later I was shooting the band for Interscope Records.  A crazy shoot, but that story is for another day.  In the end I thought Fred was great.  I always wished I shot more with him.  He’s very smart about music and the music business.
