Malcolm-Jamal Warner | BWR | 10.28.99
This was one of those shoot where I had to pinch myself. Shooting Malcom Jamal Warner for his album cover was strange and crazy. I never thought I would shoot him, let along his album cover. He’s a brilliant jazz musician and I have to say I like the album.
We did the shoot at 5th and Sunset Studios in LA. I was hired by his publicist BWR for the shoot. They were and are a BIG publicity company. What I remember about the shoot most is Malcom. He was so cool, nice and very easy shoot. We shot him in 4 different set-ups. With and without his stand up bass. Since it was for him and his PR I made sure to get him lots to choose from.
At the end it was a smooth shoot. The packaging came out nice. One of my favorites. Not sure how much noise he got out of it, but I was grateful and loved the results. I wonder if he did any more albums after this one? I need to look I guess. Where’s my Google?
