AGAIN!  And again!  Fuck film!  Film sucks!  Just kidding!  Geez.  Calm the fuck down!  I know I’ve ranted about this before.  AND I’m gonna do it again.  Why?  I was talking with a young photographer who loves film and the process of film.  I support that and want them to love film, but at the same time, I want them to embrace todays photography world.  Which is digital.

Basically what I’m saying… have a healthy balance of digital and film if you can.  Shooting film is expensive and for some a challenge.  Digital is instant, easier, cheaper and fun.  Every photographer should experience film at least once in your life/career.  Everyone should try it, enjoy the process and results.  It will slow you down and make you think.  Digital is fun and I love it.  I don’t miss film cuz I shot it for 30+ years!  I worked in darkrooms for 7+ years!  I spent my early years smelling like Fixer all day!

Since I spend everyday scanning film I’m a bit tired of it.  What I loved is seeing film that is 30, 40 & 50 years old still looking good.  What makes me sad is I know after I touch and scan this film I will never touch it again in my lifetime.  Kind of blows my mind.  Just promise me when you shoot film, please take good care of it cuz it can last forever.
