One of my first shoots for American Recordings and Rick Rubin. A cool alternative band from LA. A simple publicity shoot for the label. Shot at a downtown studio. Super fun and seriously easy. I loved the music and band so much I asked if I could direct a music video for the band. They said yes!
It was my second music video to direct. I got a budget of 10k and my idea was simple. To make it look like a serious acid trip. I hired a bunch of students from The Art Center in Pasadena. Shot for a day and edited for a week. The best part about this whole project was showing the final cut to Rick and him telling me he liked it. That felt so good cuz I respected him so much.
