I shot Jamie Foxx in 2001 for Maxim Magazine before he became the celebrity he is today. My crew and I showed up at Smash Box Studios where we began setting up our equipment around 9 a.m. Even though Jamie’s call time was two hours later, he arrived when we did and sat patiently in his car. At first I thought I screwed up the time or location! Turns out, Jamie was simply an exception to the stars who typically show up fashionably late.
I had to quickly adapt to the situation. So I told my crew to speed up while I walked outside with Jamie to chat about all sorts of things. Not only was he early, but he was also down to earth and incredibly smart! Eventually, his people showed up along with reps from Maxim. The shoot ended up being great.
