P.O.D. | Alternative Press | 04.05.00

Have you heard of P.O.D.?Β  At the time of this shoot I did not.Β  This was my first shoot for Alternative Press magazine.Β  Since there was NO budget I had the band meet me at my place in Hollywood off La Brea and Melrose.Β  When they got to my place we talked for a bit and I told them it would be painless.Β  These kind of shoots work best when they are fast and easy.

I took them out the back to my alley behind my apartment.Β  I took them to same spot I shot Nirvana back in 1991.Β  I told them about it and they were blown away.Β  The band was new and a bit nervous.Β  I don’t think they did a lot of shoots before me.Β  They did not have a lot of charisma so I kept it simple for them.Β  β€œStand here, don’t move, look this way and go easy”.Β  Just simple!

I guess I did a good job cuz Alternative Press hired me for a couple more shoots.Β  I loved the magazine and wish I did more!Β  I never shot enough for most magazines.Β  I always wanted more.Β  Rolling Stone, SPIN, Vibe, Blender and so on.Β  Never enough!!!
