Are you organized in your work and life? Do you track your shoots? Do you keep your job files tight? What about your film or digital archives? Do you plan your days, weeks, months, years? Alphabetize? Color code?
I do all of it… and then some. I don’t just like organizing—I live it. When I was a kid, I was alphabetizing my baseball cards. That should’ve been the first clue. Once I got to LA and started working, I knew I had to level up. So I did.
Every job got a folder—receipts, Polaroids, clip tests, paperwork. Everything had a place. Then computers came along and I went even deeper. Built out systems in FileMaker Pro—shoot logs, stock inventory, client databases. No guessing. No chaos. All my film? Sleeved, protected, color-coded. Everything is exactly where it should be.
My favorite tool? BusyCal APP. I’ve been using digital calendars since the late ’80s. I can tell you when I shot something 30 years ago—where I was, who I was with, what I did. My life is documented. Every move.
Here’s the truth… Track everything. One day, that information will matter more than you think. Organization isn’t just about being neat—it’s about freedom. It lets you move faster, do more, and never lose your work or your history. And yeah… it’s fun too.
