I had the best business manager for over 25 years.  From day one, she was tough on me.  No sugarcoating.  No excuses.  She taught me everything about business, life, love.  I was lucky.  Truly lucky.  For 25 years she drilled one thing into my head: “Shut the fuck up and do the work.”

That’s it. That’s the rule.  And I live by it every single day.  I still hear her voice.  Loud and clear.  I’ve never been about talking—I’ve always been about doing. E specially in a place like Los Angeles, where everyone talks a big game but very few can actually play it.  I don’t talk.  I work.  I show up.  I make shit happen.

Here’s the truth: Nobody is going to do it for you.  Nothing is just going to “happen.”  You want results?  Do the work.  Then do it again.  And again.  And again.  That’s the game.

As a photographer, your work speaks louder than anything you could ever say.  Your images are your voice.  So stop talking about what you’re going to do—and go do it.  Build the body of work.  Push yourself.  Show up every day.  Life is a full-time job.  Business is a full-time job.  Love is a full-time job.

So be your best.  Do your best.  And yeah… Shut the fuck up and do the work!
